At Clerkenwell Design Week 2018

22–24 May 2018

Designers and specifiers are looking to create products and places that both inspire and respond to the challenges of wellbeing, material health, disassembly, circularity and value.

During Clerkenwell Design Week 2018, we will explore three major themes: sensory experience & wellbeing, healthy places and the process of product development.

We will be working with key partners to host interactive workshops and discussions which challenge visitors to consider what DESIGN/SENSE means to them and who we are designing for.

What’s on

Leading Stockholm-based design office Form Us with Love presents the second installment of Prototypa in London, hosted by Shaw Contract. The Prototypa dialogues will be moderated by design strategist Lia Forslund, with guest contributors.

The FUWL Prototypa design discourses will focus on Sensory experience along with the International Well Building Institute’s, Victoria Lockhart; Designing healthy spaces with The Design Council’s, Stephen Miller; and The process of production with Cradle to Cradle’s Thijs Maartens.

Prototypa is an evolving initiative founded in 2017 by Stockholm-based design office Form Us with Love, an on-going conversation that nurtures the relationship between industry and creatives through exploring one of the most distinctive yet imaginative parts of the design process—prototyping. It is an articulation of where design is heading, a prototyping forum, peeking into the design process of the yet to be finished ideas—revealing the instant, the iterative and the reactionary formulas used in making great design.

Launch of the Specifier’s Guide to Flooring

The Launch of Kick-Start Publishing’s new publication: “A Specifier’s Guide to Flooring” will be introduced by guest speakers: Fiona Bowman (FM Consultant) and Simon Jackson (Design Consultant and Managing Director of sjjdc limited).

Kick-Start Publishing produces Contract Flooring Journal (CFJ) and its sister title Tile & Stone Journal. Register for this via our link below

Sensory exploration and wellbeing

On Wednesday 23rd May and Thursday 24th May there will be workshop/talks with expert Simon Harrop. An international sensory branding and design consultant, and CEO of BrandSense, Simon will explore the power of the senses and how to create a successful interior sensory experience.

We are delighted to be partnering with AULI to enhance your sensory experience and visitors will be able to experience and take away a specially created fragrance called Fleur Verte during @CDW2018. AULI creates perfume for living spaces and will be exhibiting with SHAW HOSPITALITY.

Fleur Verte

The concept

Fleur Verte is free yet connected, imposing its own rhythm. It opens up a space with hues of green and red exuding into one another. Delicate and light, reminiscent of the valley where spring stays forever, sprinkled with dew and a sweet sense of intoxication.

A luscious whiff of rose, ylang ylang, blackcurrant and creamy sandalwood, imbued with illuminated geranium, spills over the green- into a valley where grass feels red and its treasured flowers are green. Fleur Verte is a liberating dream, a vision of intersection of colours and texture where it drifts, free to reinvent nature and its metamorphosis. Beautiful and transcending.

Designing healthy places

We are delighted to host a talk by the Design Council on Tuesday 22nd May revealing its latest research into The challenges of designing healthy places. Stephen Miller, Research & Evaluation Manager at the Design Council shares the Design Council's recent research and will join for a panel discussion later that day.
