The client & the need

One of the key challenges of commercial design is the ability to intricately understand the client's market positioning. This insight was the crucial winning point for Praxis Design and Building Solutions to bag a large global company's workspace interiors project in Gurgaon.

This was a project that was worth every challenge it would throw up. It would give a clear grip on the practical aspects of sustainability-driven projects and enhance the firm's stature in the design community.

It also helped that Praxis was aware of the client's honest emphasis on sustainable practices.

Design approach: Sustainability and social responsibility

The client company manufactures sustainable synthetic fiber products. Thus, it was expected that the proposed interior design plan would integrate sustainability and social responsibility into every aspect.

To begin with, the team from Praxis aligned the design along four key ambitions: Material Health, Circular Economy, Carbon Impact, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Post this phase, every design element in the plan was evaluated against the four key parameters for acceptance or rejection.

Execution: Reduce, reuse, and recycle

Since the guidelines were watertight, the design team got down to work on getting the fundamentals right. The interventions included:

1. Choosing appropriate recyclable and non-toxic materials. Minimize waste and resource consumption.

2. Making the best of natural lighting and renewable energy sources (solar or wind power).

3. Creating spaces that foster equality, celebrate diversity, and enhance social cohesion.

4. For the flooring requirements, the team chose Shaw Contract’s Living Systems collection (Boundless tile – 5T314). The brand completely satisfied the strict sustainability requirements of the brief. It also mattered that the design intent aligned with Shaw Contract's People + Planet philosophy.

Net result: Contributing to a healthier, more sustainable, and more equitable world.

Praxis lived up to the high standards of the client. The new office bubbles with the excitement of new-age sustainability standards.

Every aspect of the project and materials used embraces material health, circular economy, diversity, equity & inclusion.

By integrating these ambitions into the design process, the client and Praxis feels glad to have contributed to a healthier, more sustainable, and more equitable world.
