Countdown to CDW 2019

April 24, 2019

Our theme for this year is FLOW, which asks questions of how people use spaces and move around inside them, the impact of colour on our experiences of the world, and how good design can encourage more people to use a space.

As part of this theme, we have joined forces with Brighton-based artist and designer Lois O'Hara, as well as working with designer and illustrator couple Rupert and Abi Meats of RUDE Design.

Clerkenwell Design Week is an excellent opportunity to explore some of the ongoing and emerging themes of modern-day design. We are delighted to be collaborating with such exciting new design talent as well as showcasing some of our own new product innovations.

Meet & Greet with Lois O'Hara

On the morning of Tuesday and Wednesday May 21st-22nd, we will be hosting a two-hour meet & greet session from 10:00-12:00 with Lois O'Hara.

Lois is working with us on FLOW, our theme for this year, and is the driving force behind the vision for our showroom - from the window installation to the interior - at Clerkenwell Design Week 2019.

Visitors are welcome to come and meet us, and Lois, to find out more about her ideas and inspirations, and to talk to Lois about her own latest projects too.

Poster Design Workshop with RUDE Design

Rupert and Abi Meats of RUDE Design will be running Poster Design Workshops on Tuesday 21st, Wednesday 22nd and Thursday May 23rd, starting from 14:00 each day.

All materials are provided and it's a chance to get hands-on and creative, with the support of Abi and Rupert as you create your own visually striking montage poster around the theme of FLOW.

This is a useful skill in a wide range of creative disciplines, from creating mood and colour boards, to planning out an entire interior design scheme before the first item or accessory is purchased.

*We are also delighted to be hosting a talk by RUDE Design on Tuesday 21st May, starting at 19.00 at our showroom*

Lunch & Learn with Shaw Contract

We invite attendees to join our daily Lunch & Learn sessions at 12:30-13:30 each day, where we will discuss our new RIBA and BIID accredited colour forecast CPD called ColourConnect.

ColourConnect explores the four themes of Creativity, Community, Self and Earth, and asks how colour affects our sense of community and the changing world around us.

These colourful lunchtime sessions are also a chance to enjoy some delicious food in a relaxed setting and refuel ready for the afternoon workshops.

We are also running a special Breakfast & Learn session from 09.00-10.00 on Wednesday 22nd May due to popular demand.
