Harmonising Sustainability and Style: The Transformation of a Large Office in Timisoara

In the heart of Timisoara, Romania, a visionary project was brought to life for this large office, spearheaded by the innovative team at Project 1. The brief was clear: to conceive a unified, harmonious, and striking workspace that embraced diversity through a palette of colours and shades. This concept was not just about aesthetics; it was a commitment to environmental stewardship and reducing carbon impact.

The design strategy was centred around the use of colour and shade to provide each area within the office with a distinct character, whilst maintaining an overarching sense of unity. The team, in collaboration with the client, embarked on this creative journey with a keen eye on environmental considerations.

A pivotal decision in this project was the selection of the Auxiliary collection from Shaw Contract. Available as part of the In Stock program and utilising yarn held at the Shaw Contract UK facility, the Auxiliary collection stood out for its ability to ensure a continuous and adaptable supply chain. This strategic choice markedly diminished the project's environmental footprint, a critical factor given the project's location in Timisoara.

Inspired by the ephemeral beauty of the changing seasons, the Auxiliary collection facilitated the creation of stunning transitions within the space. The team opted for the style Detail in the colours Smoke/Azur and Smoke/Black, adding depth and sophistication to the interiors.

Further enhancing the workspace's warmth and inviting ambiance, the Living Systems collection was also selected. Known for its principles of Regenerative Design, this collection brings an organic and textural aesthetic to the fore, allowing for endless combinations and reconfigurations.

The styles chosen - Endless in Skies, Coral, Forest, and Nature - introduced a serene and naturalistic element to the office environment.

Both the Auxiliary and Living Systems collections boast the Indoor Air Comfort Gold® certification, exemplifying the highest standards for low product emissions. Additionally, these collections are Cradle to Cradle Bronze® certified and integral to the Shaw Contract reclamation program, re[Turn], underscoring a commitment to sustainability and health.
