Atlanta Ronald McDonald House

This home-away- from-home provides refuge for many families whose children are hospitalized receiving outpatient treatment. At nearly 55,000 sf, the facility includes 31 guest rooms and comfortable common areas for families to gather, interact, and participate in a variety of arts, crafts, games, and activities. A sprawling sun-drenched dining room sits across from the expansive open kitchen where the house's chefs prepare homemade meals. A southern-style breezeway begins at the front door and leads families directly through to the main living room where they can relax around a grand stone fireplace. The whimsical, three-story Healing Tree rises from the main floor, transporting children and families from the current health-related stresses into the various limbs and canopies. This sophisticated tree house is the centerpiece and focal point of the house, igniting imaginations. The nature-inspired flooring in neutral tones and wood themes complement the entire project. Communications and graphics, signage and wayfinding, and donor recognition integrate seamlessly into the architecture, exposing itself to the exterior façade visible from the intersection of the adjacent roadways. The Atlanta Ronald McDonald House ultimately provides a variety of comforting environments where the entire family can escape to heal.
