General Motors - HR Innovation Space

In designing the Innovation Center in Detroit, Michigan, the client required a marriage of both singular small group spaces with collaborative, comfortable and occasional seating and large group spaces with specific task oriented objectives. More than three quarters of the space is surrounded by glazing, making the multistory exposed concrete infrastructure a neutral canvas for the interior. Orchestrated pops of color through material application on interior surfaces and furniture pieces creates intrigue. Custom glass pivot doors create separation when needed, allowing for large group events or smaller group seminars. Comfortable, yet movable, lounge pieces add flare to the crisp, white space. With exposed concrete surrounding the space, noise was a design consideration. Quiet Cover luxury vinyl plank absorbs sound and adds comfort underfoot. Striped in various band-widths, the flooring creates interest and grounds the space, keeping clients and guests at ease.
