IT'S ABOUT HEALTH + WELL-BEING

The definition of sustainability is continually being stretched, especially for the built environment. Increasingly, companies are investing more resources into the health and well-being of their employees.

We’re frequently asked how Shaw Contract products contribute to the WELL Building Standard focusing on people and healthy workspaces (compared to LEED which focuses on the building).

WHAT IS THE WELL BUILDING STANDARD?

The WELL Building Standard ® is an evidence-based system for measuring, certifying and monitoring the performance of building features that impact health and well-being. Administered by the International WELL Building Institute™ and 3rd party certified by GBCI. The Standard focuses on seven concepts: Air, Water, Nourishment, Light, Fitness, Comfort and Mind. Visit wellcertified.com to learn more.

Flooring is not a specific component of the WELL Building Standard ®, our sustainable philosophies complement several areas within the seven concepts identified in the standard. Since the WELL building standard is based on the occupant experience, flooring can offer a number of positive interactions for a building’s occupants, offering meaningful experiences and senses. From beauty of design to safe ingredients, Shaw Contract's flooring products can help a project manager reinvent the space experience.
