Health Product Declaration (HPD)

A Health Product Declaration (HPD) is a disclosure tool that takes an inventory of the ingredients in a product and scans them against hazards to human health.

It demonstrates the willingness of a manufacturer to disclose the product’s ingredients and the health hazards of the individual ingredients. HPDs present this information in a format that is consistent, transparent and in a common language specifiers can understand.

Self certification is allowed for HPDs, so third-party verification is not required. There is no optimization or risk assessment. It’s just an inventory and screening tool - more about transparency.

Shaw Contract’s HPDs cover all of our EcoWorx carpet tile and tufted broadloom products. These products contribute points toward the Materials and Resources (MR): Building Product Disclosure and Optimization - Material ingredients credit for LEED V4.
